This class covered:

  • The principles of successful rainwater harvesting including roof water catchment and implementing simple earth works techniques.
  • Rainwater basics-catchment surfaces, calculations, storage and use.
  • How to dig a swale to catch and infiltrate rainwater from the downspout, and then redirect it to the swale for water storage in the soil.
  • How to properly place bamboo below the catchment system to maximize rainwater yields.
  • How to welcome rainwater into your landscape rather than trying to divert it away from your house.
